This one’s good! Startup Radius interviewed HelloBox – a multichannel contact widget for websites, that allows visitors to choose a communication channel they already know and love. This increases number of conversations with visitors up to 10 times. And you know what, HelloBox looks like a decent alternative to Intercom widget!

If you want to learn how HelloBox widget converts visitors into clients (they use their own product on the HelloBox website, and it works), how printed out marketing materials help them grow, and why thank-you letters should be delivered via mail, not E-mail, read below and enjoy!

Can you tell us about what you are working on? What is HelloBox?

HelloBox is a smart multichannel contact widget for your website. You can put all your socials or contact options in one button. Following channels are at the moment available:

  • WhatsApp
  • Facebook messenger
  • Twitter DM
  • Email Form
  • Call-Back
  • SMS
  • LinkedIn

And more are coming. We are a big believer in user feedback and are constantly developing our product with our user base.

Why are you building this? Was there a particular source of inspiration or a money-making idea?

Over 2 billion people use messaging apps every month. It’s 10x more likely to get in touch with your business when your visitors can use a channel they already know and love. With HelloBox we’ve build a solution to bring your website visitors closer to every business.

To reach the most people as effectively as possible, provide the options they want for where and how to reach out to you. – ENTREPRENEUR.COM

Time for bragging! How big you are – traffic, users, anything else? (the more numbers the better)

At the moment, we have 500 people on our site every month. With an average conversion rate of 1% we are gathering 5 new customers each month. The plan is to gain our first 100 paying customer at the end of next year.

Who are your main competitors, and how good/bad they are?

At the moment, we are figuring out, who and where our competitors are. Intercom, is definitely a big one, but difficult to compare with HelloBox. We actually want to create a new kind of category. Our target group are small businesses and solopreneurs, who don’t have the budget or time to invest in big products.

Who uses HelloBox? What is your perfect buyer persona?

HelloBox is a great tool for every local operation business or brand. We believe that three main groups will benefit a lot from HelloBox:

  • Personal Brands
  • Agents and
  • Coaches

HelloBox is great for those business and brands who wants to engage with their audience in a personal way.

Were there any early ‘growth hacks’ or tactics that have contributed to your current success?

We use a lot of word of mouth tactics and the best way at the moment is to print out customized HelloBoxes on a sheet of paper and thank our customers personally via mail. That’s not a very scalable process, but we’ve seen some people are sharing their HelloBox on social media and that’s what we want at the moment.

What were some of the biggest challenges while building HelloBox early on and how did you solve them?

Growth, that’s the number 1 priority and biggest challenge. While developing the product and maintaining it, we need to make sure that more people are getting to know HelloBox. Therefore it’s really helpful to get the chance for this interview 🙂

If you could give a marketing advice to other companies, what could it be based on your experience?

Get as personal as possible with your clients, but keeps your pants on 😉 The more you bring in your passion and love to the product and to your customers, the faster you will get the trust. We send out to every new customer a personal thank you letter with a printed HelloBox (see the screenshot below).
